Robert Butter (1848-1935), artist

When Robert Butter died in 1935 he was unmarried and no occupation was included on the death certificate which was registered by the daughter of his cousin, Grace Low. The 1901 census recorded him as a retired teacher of drawing and the 1891 census as an artist.

He was the son of railway manager Robert Butter (later Robert Butter-Malcolm), who was an accomplished amateur violinist, with an extensive collection of stringed instruments. Further details on this father and son are currently being investigated.
