Laverock from the parish of Wemyss

My 6 times great grandfather was James LAVEROCK. He married Isabel SWINE at Wemyss, Fife, in 1741. Their son Peter LAVEROCK, ploughman and feuar at Buckhaven, married Christian KINNEAR at Wemyss in 1772. Their son David LAVEROCK, shoemaker, married Catherine SOUTER in 1797 and their son Peter LAVEROCK married Elizabeth HUTTON at Kennoway, Fife, in 1821.

Peter & Elizabeth's son, George, LAVEROCK, shoemaker, moved north and married Jessie LITTLEJOHN at Forfar, Angus, in 1866. Their eldest son was Dundee solicitor Thomas LAVEROCK, who married Joan Martin BELL there in 1901. Their daughter, Hilda Jessie LAVEROCK, married Robert Grant BUTTARS.

Contemporary couples

The earlier generations of Laverocks are not quite clear. There were a number of Laverock families in the parish of Wemyss but how they all fit together is still a mystery

The following are possibly all children to Patrick LAVEROCK & Christian BARKER, who also had a daughter Margaret.

Did the James LAVEROCK who was married to Margaret DURIE, subsequently marry either Margaret COCKBURN or (and then) Isabel SWINE?

From the age given on his gravestone, the Peter/Patrick who married Christian KINNEAR in 1772 would have been the son of James Laverock & Isabel Swine, but which other Patrick married Jean LAVEROCK in 1775? (Who was Jean LAVEROCK?)

Some of these questions may be answered by closer examination of the Wemyss parish register.
